Joint Management Committee Minutes from the May meeting are here.
24/06/10
The Joint Management Committee (JMC) will be holding an ‘Information Evening’ with all interested PDHA and WDWHA affiliated clubs, Executive, Convenors and Life Members.
This information evening will get everyone up to speed on the amalgamation between PDHA and WDWHA, and more importantly, provides an opportunity for all clubs to have any questions answered. This is not an opportunity to hold a debating session – but more of an opportunity for both clubs and the JMC to exchange thoughts and too take ideas back to members for further discussion.
All members of Nepean Hockey Association are invited to attend this Information evening, however we ask that each club have a maximum of 2 speaking delegates. PD and WD Executive Committees, Convenors and Life Members are also invited to attend.
We are also very fortunate that Stan Moore (who has graciously assisted us through this amalgamation process) has agreed to chair this important meeting on behalf of the JMC.
Details:
Date: Monday 28 June 2010
Time: 7:00pm
Venue: The Lawson Room Foyer – Penrith RSL Club (Tindale Street, Penrith)
An agenda is currently being finalised – and will be send out to all clubs and participants shortly. In the meantime, mark you diaries to make sure you are available for this special event.

Details are still to be sorted and released, but should be in the next week or so.
It has been a long , hard road to get to this point and I would thank club members who have supported our Club's position to get the best for Hockey in our local area.
If you have any questions you can contact me on 0419226698 or see me at training.

PDHA to run a Women’s competition
Due to the need to present a united front for Hockey in our local area to secure funding for the field repairs / upgrades the PDHA (men’s competition) will run a Women’s competition on Saturdays as well as the normal Men’s and junior competitions.
This decision was taken by all PDHA clubs at a Special General Meeting on Thursday 28th Jan. It was not an easy decision.
For the majority of our Women players there will be no change. Games will still proceed on Saturday afternoons. For our Representative players, changes will occur. They will most likely go away to represent PDHA rather than WDWHA. (this season)
Hopefully a proper amalgamation, including name / uniform changes will occur towards the end of this season.
If anyone has any dramas, can you please call me on 0419 226698 or see me at the AGM on 18th Feb.
Mike

Notice from WDWHA
On Wednesday evening (28/1) the Executive of your Association met with the Men’s Association Representatives to discuss the dire straits that Hockey in the Penrith area currently finds itself.
We have been advised that the Business that runs the Hockey Centre will not be making the Water field available for the 2009 season and possibly longer due to its condition. This means all Hockey will need to be played on only the Sand field. Furthermore, we were advised that they are not willing to deal with two (2) different entities in relation to bookings, fees, etc in regards to the Hockey Centre, let alone individual clubs as per the previous Management.
Drastic action is required and required in the immediate future.
It has been decided that a united body is required to represent Hockey as a whole in order to secure the Sand field for both training and playing time and organise future fundraising to replace the surface of the Water field. Members of your Executive are included in this united body; there was no choice but to join forces or face the possibility that Hockey not be played in Penrith at all for 2009. There are other sports vying for the same area.
For further development of Hockey in the Penrith area we believe a merger with the Men’s Association would enable Hockey to grow and progress. This will not happen overnight. The process would happen over several years. There are a number of points to be discussed and sorted if the decision to amalgamate is agreed upon.
Some of the positives of Amalgamating the two (2) Associations would be:-
A stronger voice for Hockey in the area
Combined resources for Fundraising
Securing availability on the limited field for Training
One body for Junior players – united input & structure
Simpler Fee Structure
Please contact your Board and discuss this matter Urgently.
On Tuesday 17th February; at the Association meeting, a secret Ballot will be held. Each Club Delegate will be asked to speak on this issue, your opinions are vital to this discussion. Please prepare beforehand what you would like to say. Please contact one of the Executive if you would like to discuss this prior to the meeting.
Yours sincerely,
Cheryl Dollin
